Forney slips past Lobos at home, 28-24
Forney struck first in the opening quarter when Javian Osborne bulldozed in a 4-yard rushing TD. Longview responded later in the quarter, cutting into the lead with a touchdown to make it 7–7. In the second quarter, the Lobos took over, putting up 10 points while shutting out Forney to carry a 17–14 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, Forney scored twice, extending its advantage to 28–17. Longview answered late in that period with a TD of its own, narrowing the gap to 28–24. In the final quarter, Longview forced Forney to punt, then drove inside Forney territory, getting inside the 40 with under two minutes to play. But their push fell just short with a fumble on the 4-yard line. After the turnover, Longview got the ball back but could not convert on a fourth-and-two, turning the ball over to Forney, who ran out the clock to preserve the 28–24 win.

Lobos defeat Marshall, 20-7, under interim head coach Oscar Wilson

Longview celebrated homecoming with a 20–7 win over rival Marshall Sept. 5 at Lobo Stadium. The victory marked the Lobos’ 10th-straight in the series and came under the direction of longtime assistant Oscar Wilson, who stepped in as interim head coach while John King recovers from a medical procedure. Wilson, a member of the Longview staff since 1979, guided the Lobos to a strong defensive performance that limited Marshall to a single touchdown. The Lobos are now 2–0 after overcoming a 14–0 deficit in last week’s opener against Lufkin before storming back for a convincing victory. READ LN-J STORY
