Lobos defeat Royse City, 42-7

Longview piled up 482 yards of offense and shut out Royse City for more than three quarters Friday night as the Lobos rolled to a 42-7 victory.

Longview rushed for 314 yards on 49 carries and added 168 through the air behind quarterback Jacaiden Davis, who completed 9 of 12 passes with two touchdowns.

The Lobos set the tone with a 92-yard scoring drive on their first possession. Davis capped the seven-play march with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Hurndon for a 7-0 lead with six minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Longview's special teams helped set up the next score. Lawson Tubb blocked a 44-yard Royse City field goal attempt, and Tamardrik Bradford scooped up the loose ball and returned it to the Royse City 20. Davis connected with Addie McGee for a 20-yard touchdown moments later to make it 14-0.

The Lobo defense forced another turnover late in the quarter when James Pierce knocked the ball loose and Longview recovered at the Royse City 29.

Jakelvin Muckleroy added a touchdown run in the second quarter before Zycharionne Vaughn capped a 14-play, 80-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run with five seconds remaining before halftime, sending Longview into the locker room with a 28-0 lead.

Longview dominated the first-half numbers, finishing with 267 yards and 16 first downs while holding Royse City to 96 yards and eight first downs.

The Lobos needed only 12 seconds to score after halftime. Tubb recovered Royse City's onside kick, and Vaughn quickly found the end zone again on a 5-yard run to extend the lead to 35-0.

Pierce later intercepted a pass, his second interception in as many games. Davis followed with a 51-yard completion to Kaidon Graves, although the Lobos eventually turned the ball over on downs.

Brandon Cavasos closed Longview's scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to make it 42-0.

Royse City avoided the shutout with a 29-yard touchdown reception by Kamari Nelson late in the game.

Muckleroy led Longview's ground attack with 94 yards on nine carries. Vaughn rushed 11 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while Addison carried 14 times for 84 yards.

Graves led the Lobo receivers with 72 yards on two catches. Hurndon caught four passes for 44 yards and a touchdown, while McGee had a 20-yard touchdown reception.

Longview finished with 482 yards of total offense, including 314 rushing.
