Longview opens district play with win over North Forney, 49-13

Longview celebrated Homecoming with a district-opening win Friday night, pulling away from North Forney for a 49-13 victory at Lobo Stadium.

The Lobos improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in District 10-6A, while North Forney fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in district play.

The teams were tied 7-7 after the first quarter before Longview took advantage of a North Forney special teams mistake.

The Falcons muffed a punt into their own end zone, where Longview recovered for a touchdown and a 14-7 lead with 7:03 remaining in the second quarter.

North Forney answered with a 13-yard touchdown pass, cutting Longview's lead to 14-13 with 3:04 left in the half.

The Falcons then recovered an onside kick, but the Lobos quickly regained possession when Von'Darryn Adams intercepted a pass inside the Longview 20-yard line.

Longview capitalized when Jaicaden Davis connected with Jaden Hurndon for a 46-yard touchdown with 29 seconds remaining, giving the Lobos a 21-13 halftime lead.

Adams added his second interception of the quarter on a North Forney deep pass to end the half.

The Lobos took control after halftime.

Davis scored on a run of about 20 yards to extend the lead to 28-13, then added a 3-yard touchdown run to make it 35-13.

Longview's defense continued to create turnovers when James Pierce intercepted a North Forney pass at the Falcons' 41-yard line with 55 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

The Lobos carried a 35-13 lead into the fourth.

Davis added a 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter before scoring again from 13 yards out with 2:44 remaining to complete the scoring.

Longview outscored North Forney 35-0 after the Falcons pulled within one point in the second quarter.

The Lobos return to District 10-6A action at Royse City at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.
