Longview ISD board approves name for new multipurpose indoor facility

The Longview ISD Board of Trustees officially approved the name Trent Williams Multipurpose Indoor Facility during its meeting Monday night, recognizing one of Longview High School's most accomplished alumni.

Williams' parents attended the meeting on his behalf and received applause from those in attendance following the board's approval of the naming.

The multipurpose indoor facility is being constructed as part of the district's 2024 bond program and will serve Longview High School students and athletic programs.

A 2006 Longview High School graduate, Williams has established one of the most distinguished careers by an offensive lineman in professional football. Throughout his career, he has earned multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections and is widely regarded as one of the greatest offensive tackles in NFL history.

Williams also has remained committed to giving back to his hometown. In 2013, he launched the free Silverback Football Camp at Longview High School, providing local youth with instruction and mentorship from professional athletes.

Construction of the Trent Williams Multipurpose Indoor Facility is underway as part of Longview ISD's voter-approved 2024 bond program.
